It is more commonly used as its acronym “Pro Bono”. In the legal field, the term “pro bono” refers to legal services that are provided for the public good, either free of charge or at a low fee. Free legal aid (pro bono legal service) should be distinguished from traditional legal aid services, which are provided by the legal services authority through lawyers. It is expected that through the free services, the skills of highly trained, successful, top legal professionals as well as new lawyers can be benefitted by those who are unable to afford the costly fees of lawyers.

      मेरे साथ- रूप कुमार , लीगल  प्रोफेशनल, लीगल कंसलटेंट एंड लीगल जर्नलिस्ट             प्रो बोनो पब्लिको’ एक लैटिन वाक्यांश है जिसका अर्थ है “लोगों की भलाई के लिए”। यह आमतौर पर अपने संक्षिप्त रूप “प्रो बोनो” के रूप में उपयोग किया जाता है। कानूनी क्षेत्र में, “प्रो बोनो” शब्द का अर्थ उन कानूनी सेवाओं से है जो जनता की भलाई के लिए या तो मुफ्त में या कम शुल्क पर दी जाती हैं। नि:शुल्क कानूनी सहायता (pro bono legal service) को पारंपरिक कानूनी सहायता सेवाओं, जो कानूनी सेवा प्राधिकरण द्वारा वकीलों के माध्यम से मुहैया करायी जाती है, से अलग समझा जाना चाहिए। यह उम्मीद की जाती है कि नि:शुल्क सेवाओं के माध्यम से उच्च प्रशिक्षित, सफल, शीर्ष कानूनी पेशेवरों के साथ-साथ नए वकीलों के कौशल का लाभ ऐसे लोगों को मिल सके, जो वकीलों की महंगी फीस को वहन करने में असमर्थ हैं।
